On 1 October 2026, Kindroid retired its permanent free Lite tier, which had given unlimited text on a smaller model. The change was announced in the company's 18 August update log and took effect at the start of October.
New accounts now receive a one-time 50-interaction preview on the flagship model (15 in higher-abuse regions), two companion slots, 5,000 audio characters and up to five selfie generations; once those run out the account becomes read-only until the user starts a three-day trial or subscribes. Existing Lite users got 50 final flagship interactions, and any account can still view, export or delete its data.
Kindroid said an unlimited low-quality free tier was 'not sustainable' and 'does not represent the product we are building,' and that an ad model did not fit economically.
