How we test
Most companion reviews are written from a spec sheet and never revisited. We do it differently, and the difference is mostly about being honest about what we have and have not checked.
We are a directory, not a chatbot service
iSoulChat does not operate an AI companion, does not host character chats, and never receives the conversations you have on sites we link to. We catalogue products and link out to them. That keeps what we do simple, and it keeps your private conversations out of our hands entirely.
How a site gets listed
- We open the product, create an account where possible, and use the free tier.
- We read the pricing page and record the entry price, whether there is a real free tier, and whether the paid tier uses coins or credits that can raise the true monthly cost.
- We check for voice, image, video and memory as features that actually exist — not as roadmap promises.
- We record whether the product has an adult mode, because that is a thing users need to know before signing up, not after.
Listing is free and cannot be bought. There is no expedited review. If a site wants visibility beyond the ranked list, the only option is a clearly labelled sponsored placement, and those never affect scores or ordering.
What the “last verified” date means
Every entry carries the date we last opened the site and confirmed its price and features. Right now 0 of 43 entries are hand-verified; the rest were compiled from public pricing pages and product documentation and are queued for the same treatment. Those say “Pricing unverified” on the card, because that is the truth and you should be able to see it.
Scoring
Our 0–5 editor score weighs conversation quality most heavily, then features that change daily use — memory, voice, image and video — then value for the price you actually pay, then platform coverage. It is an opinion, it is ours, and it moves when a product changes. We do not accept payment to change a score, and we say so on every page where a link might earn us money.
What we exclude
- Sites without an age gate.
- Products marketed to minors.
- Anything we cannot verify as a real, operating business.
Corrections
If a price, a feature or a claim is wrong, tell us and we will re-check it. Corrections are welcome from users, not just from the companies involved. Use the submission form and describe what is wrong — or read who we are on the about page.
